Stage 0 in Franschhoek
Arrive on Sunday 11 March 2018
The day of the CTCT. Arrive in Franschhoek in the afternoon. This is a non-cycling day. We’ll be staying at La Couronne estate, and others, depending on numbers. Tonight is our unofficial Tour Briefing. Joing us for a meet & greet and group dinner. From 6pm onwards.
Stage 1 to Slanghoek
103km & 950m on Monday 12 March 2018
Franschhoek to Slanghoek. Cycling starts at 6am each day. Coffee before the start. Breakfast at the first water point. Second water point on the outskirts of Villiersdorp. Last stop at Aan-de-Doorns. Stay at Slanghoek Villas at Goudini spa. Bragging rights if you can cycle all the way to the top. Post-ride massages. Group dinner in the form of a braai.
Stage 2 to Montagu
124km & 760m on Tuesday 13 March 2018
Slanghoek to Montagu. Coffee before we leave. 6am start. Breakfast at our first water point, the big red chair at Rooiberg. WP2 just before Robertson. WP3 may be roaming, before Cogmanskloof pass. Arrive in Montagu. Stay in Mimosa lodge or similar. Massages & group dinner.
Stage 3 to Tulbagh
194km & 2300m on Wednesday 14 March 2018
Montagu to Tulbagh. The longest day by far. Breakfast will be at the first water point. Expect many more WP’s to accommodate the distance & climbing. Braai & massage under the trees at Charlie Hofmeyr school in Ceres. Choose your distance. Finish in Ceres (about 160km) or continue to Tulbagh (190+km), where we stay in the Cape Dutch Quarters.
Stage 4 to Riebeeck
100km & 1050m on Thursday 15 March 2018
Tulbagh to Riebeeck. A shorter day to accommodate for yesterday. Coffee before we leave. Quick stop at the foot of Bains Kloof Pass. Breakfast at the top. Another water point at Du Vlei padstal. Continue to welcome lawns at Riebeeck Valley Hotel. Sit-down group dinner. Tomorrow is optional, so this may be goodbye for some.
Optional Stage 5 to Stellenbosch
88km & 740m on Friday 16 March 2018
Optional day. A casual ride back to Stellenbosch. Could have staggered start groups so all arrives at the finish more or less the same time. Leave Riebeek, over Bothmaskloof, say goodbye to the valley, through Malmesbury onto the R304 towards Stellenbosch. Left & right after Joostenberg to pass Elsenburg and finish at Delvera. Expect to be in before 12pm.
