Meet the Team. These guys will entertain you on and off the bicycle.
Don’t be alarmed if you see him talking to himself while cycling, as he is most likely just making plans for the next tour. Carinus is a director of Tour de Boland Cycling Pty Ltd and various other cycling related ventures.
Never say die. Built for comfort, not speed, Nico loves the longer distances, having completed PBP, LEL, TCR and the Munga. He is a director of Tour de Boland Cycling Pty Ltd and looks after the finances.
Daneel is a successful local businessman and strikes a healthy balance between time spent in the office versus in the saddle. He is a prime example of how to handle a bicycle and is also our main storyteller.
He has managed cycle trips in Botswana, Kenya, Europe (England, France, Poland, Lithuania) and India, and hiking trips up Mt Kilimanjaro, through Ethiopia’s Simien Mountains, over Peru’s Machu Picchu trail and through the Grand Canyon, to mention but a few. Luc finished high school in 2018 and currently worked for Thule in Stellenbosch, sidelining as a barista. He is officially (much) faster than his father.
Wian is as friendly and well-mannered as can be, hence everyone loves him as a ride captain. Having tried his hand with some of the bigger amateur races in Europe, he is also no stranger to a long climb or sitting in a bunch. He works for Thule and has taught Luc a lot, including how to be a good barista.
There are few people who know more about these two subjects than our Danie – fine wine and the letter of the law. He is an attorney that says that being the local liquor license expert has its perks. Did we mention he is also a triathlete and Ironman?
All-round likeable guy, Ludwich spends more time on his surfboard than on his bicycle these days. He is also a aspirant winemaker and runs a successful wedding & functions catering service with his lovely wife Sandri.
Watts, power meters and no stranger to long distances. Richard is a keen Randonneur who completed the Munga in 2018 and liked it so much that he is now working with local cycling pro’s for a technical approach to this years’ edition.
A keen cyclist with 15 CTCT’s, 11 Cycle Challenges over the last 32 years – he heads up our safety vehicles – an area in which he is just as experienced, having carried judges, marshals & photographers on many UCI World Tours, Ironman’s and more.
